Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu Meet Modi, Offers to Resign
Taking the moral responsibility of two train mishaps in Uttar Pradesh in the past five days, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu met Modi and offered to resign. Although his resignation is not accepted yet, the prime minister had asked him to wait. On Tuesday, 70-plus passengers were severely injured in Kafiyat Express Accident. Whereas on Saturday 22 people died and 200 were reportedly injured in the Utkal Express derailment.
Finance Minister of India, Mr. Arun Jaitley said PM Modi would take a decision “on whatever request Suresh Prabhu has made”. Suresh Prabhu expressed his emotions and said he’s “extremely pained” by the two unfortunate accidents in Uttar Pradesh that took place on Tuesday and last week.
On Wednesday afternoon Prabhu tweeted, “It has caused me deep anguish,” Well, it seems like the Rail Mister who has devoted his “blood, sweat and tears” in serving the Railways has got captivated with overwhelmed emotions after such massive accidents took place.
Suresh stated that under PM Modi’s leadership, the Railways have got “unprecedented investments & milestones”. If reports are to be believed, on Sunday the railway ministry sent on leaves all the top officials of Indian Railways including a member of the railway board for the Utkal Express derailment.

After criticized by the opposition parties, the ministry sent member (engineer) Aditya Kumar Mittal, divisional railway manager (DRM) R N Singh & general manager (GM) Northern Railways R K Kulshrestha till any further orders are released.
