In the app there is TOTP (Time-based one-time password), which is automatically generated a temporary password, which can be used in replacement of SMS-based OTP.

According to the information provided in the mAadhaar app, users are required to have a registered mobile phone number in order to use the app in Android phone. The number is not a registered digit with UIDAI, users will have to pay a visit to an enrollment centre or a mobile update end point.
