Pakistan’s anti-corruption tribunal banned (PCB) opener Sharjeel Khan for 5 years In Spot Fixing case that has shaken Pakistan Super League. The left-handed opener, Sharjeel Khan was temporarily suspended with opener Khalid Latif for breaking the PCB anti-corruption code in February. On Tuesday, Pakistan’s anti-corruption tribunal completed its final arguments and arranged all evidences against batsmen Sharjeel and Khalid, who were reportedly sent back from Dubai in February on the second day of the PSL after the anti-corruption unit of the PCB found them involving in suspicious activities including meeting with bookmakers.
Asghat Haider, who headed the three-member tribunal, stated that “Sharjeel is banned for five years, which has two-and-a-half year suspended, after the proceedings of the case.”
Sharjeel and his lawyer Shaigan Ejaz had appeared in all hearings and made it clear that trust the tribunal decision and will follow the same.
On the other side, Khalid and his lawyer “Badar Alam” challenged the constitutional verdicts and disagreed with the appointed members.
In the year 2011, ICC anti-corruption tribunal imposed minimum five-year bans on Pakistan captain Salman Butt and pacers Muhammad Aamir and Muhammad Asif for spot – fixing during the England 2010 series.
After the three completed their suspension period, they are now welcomed again to play in competitive cricket with Muhammad Aamir having made a great comeback to the Pakistan national team.
